Podcasting arena ...
More expressive that blogging ... is the Podcast.
One can only use enough bold and italics and punctuation to help create the tone of a blog entry. With podcasting, you get all the verbal and vocal intonations one can ever wish to include, just shy of vblogs.
It's an open market free for all. Topics are there for the pickin' ... or rather, listening.
My podcast has a total of 4 episodes now and I'm finally getting the hang of it.
Truly, you are your own producer, writer, editor and sound crew.
The only thing is .. all of it is "one way" and the other thing is, you can be talking all you want, and no one may be listening.
Will podcasting soon replace blogging?

"One Way" communication suits some, I would think, while others thrive on interchange. If blogging did not include comments, there would still be the opportunity for self expression and reflection, one step up from a private journal in that one's feelings are being communicated to others. But as this social blogging community seems to illustrate, some of us human beings thrive on relationships, even those that exist in written communication and no where else. Hi DF, Hi MJ!!! It's good to see you, friends.

I second menace's emotion. May we listen, ma'am? You wouldn't want to hear me stumble through my monologues. I'd almost prefer a stylus pad or to scan a written journal to show you the true voice in my writings, but those are very subtle sometimes. I once considered publishing an exact copy of my journal I wrote in Laos, but who would buy that? If you want to be primarily a podcaster, you could just link your casts on this blog and use the comment space for comments on the cast.

There's talking to yourself and there's talking to yourself. People really thought I was either mad or just too much time on my hands after I set up my Pirate Radio software and broadcasted (to nobody, as the software includes the IP addresses of anyone listening). Now we have PodCasting - ok, so it's one way traffic, but if someone has to download it from somewhere specific then you might just get some feedback to motivate you to continue and adapt what your discussing to suit the mood. Of course the only problem with being writer, artist, producer, director , editor et al is QUALITY CONTROL. I mean, see how easy I ramble. But I can see me having a bash at PC'ing some stage. I like Bangatank's idea, link to here and we can comment or atsrt another blog where we could all upload podcasts to, we would have our own diverse PODSTATION
